  • Sen. Menendez: Stop Trying to Kill the Iran Talks
We demand that you stop trying to sabotage President Obama's diplomacy with Iran by promoting new sanctions legislation in spite of the President's veto threat. We demand that you cease and desist from inflammatory rhetoric against the President's attempts to ensure that we let diplomacy work. We condemn your statement that the President's stance against new sanctions “sounds like talking points that come straight out of Tehran” and demand that you apologize to the Administration officials that you insulted.

  • Ban Horizontal High Volume Hydraulic Fracturing in the Town of Hartwick
New York's Environmental Conservation Law, which protects water resources for specific areas, should be expanded to cover the whole state and thus prevent the possible pollution of all current and potential water supplies. The highest and best use of New York's water resources is for human consumption and for the benefit of all of the state's flora and fauna. It should not be compromised, polluted, or commodified. Hartwick should join the other municipalities of Otsego County who have already taken proactive, protective measures.

  • We demand one more debate on Climate Change
This week Hurricane Sandy rocked the east coast as the largest recorded storm in this area's history. This fossil-fueled storm has put large portions of New Jersey and New York under water. Climate Change was not addressed at all during the three presidential debates, despite the fact that it's both a pressing domestic and foreign policy issue. We demand that President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney agree to one final debate before election day on the subject of climate change.

  • Voting Rights Act Amendment
Late last week, Representatives Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI) and John Conyers (D-MI) and Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) introduced new legislation—the Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2014—that would strengthen the Voting Rights Act. This bill isn't perfect but is the best vehicle we have for restoring the rights struck down by the Supreme Court last year. www.thenation.com/blog/177962/members-congress-introduce-new-fix-voting-rights-act

  • Stop Illegal Room Rentals
Transient lodging services in non-hotels endanger their users and harm New York City. Using so-called shared economy websites results in individuals breaking New York State law. These services offer no effective recourse for property damage or personal injury and promote accommodations that lack basic fire safety and security systems. Despite their popularity, short-term lodging services do not protect their users nor benefit the communities they claim to support. Stop illegal room rentals now.

  • Oregon: Adopt NCARB IDP Streamline
As of July 1st, NCARB is rolling out 'IDP Streamline', effectively reducing the required IDP hours for licensure from 5,600 to 3,740. This change reduces the burden of a complicated and expensive licensing process for all architectural interns. 42 out of 54 jurisdictions have adopted this change including Washington, California, New York, Illinois, District of Columbia, and Texas. Please urge Oregon's Board of Architect Examiners to join our neighboring states and the major metropolitan centers of the country to adopt this new standard.

Please sign this petition demanding SC State University act urgently to create, develop and launch a modern, attractive, mobile friendly website before the 2021 Fall Semester and replace it's current 14 year old website. We're tired of waiting on a new website. We need action not talk. A new mobile friendly, modern website will meet the needs of students and supporters especially those visiting on a smartphone. The current website does not work on smartphones and is outdated (made before smartphones).

  • Demand Marion County Public Schools to Recognize Self-Defense as a Student Right
I am a student at a Marion County Public School, and I have personally experienced the consequences of our school's failure to recognize self-defense as a student right. Our current policy maintains zero tolerance towards violence, even when it is an act of self-defense. This approach is not only unfair but also potentially harmful for students who find themselves in situations where they need to protect themselves. In 2018, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) reported that zero-tolerance policies can lead to negative outcomes for students, including increased likelihood of dropping out and involvement with the juvenile justice system. Furthermore, according to the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), such policies do not necessarily improve school safety or climate. It is crucial that we differentiate between aggression and self-defense. Students should have the right to protect themselves without fear of disciplinary action when their safety is threatened. We must advocate for a more nuanced understanding of violence within our schools' rules and regulations. We call on Marion County Public Schools to revise their current policy and recognize self-defense as a student right. This change will ensure fair treatment for all students while maintaining safety within our schools. Please sign this petition if you believe in protecting students' rights and promoting fairness within our education system.
