We are asking our County Commissions and Engineering Department to recognize a need to improve and upgrade the safety at the intersection of Habersham Trace and Nuckols Road to benefits all residents and drivers. As a result of the continued residential and commercial growth surrounding the Habersham At Lanier and Habersham On Lanier communities public safety has become an urgent matter that needs to be addressed. The intersection of Habersham Trace and Nuckols Road is extremely dangerous for school bus drivers, children, handicapped residents, and others due to the lack of a traffic control solution that includes a safe ADA pedestrian crosswalk along with the increased traffic flow, high rates of speed, and the number of residents (handicapped, elderly, children, and non-handicapped) that use the newly installed sidewalks. The Forsyth County Managers office, County Commissioners, and Forsyth County Engineering department should grant our request for a speed deterrent like a 4 way stop, speed breaks, or at a minimum, a MARKED Pedestrian Crosswalk for a number if reasons that include preventing a fatality, accommodating handicapped persons using walking aids, families with handicapped children, persons using motorized wheel chairs, aiding in the control of excessive speeding, protecting the Forsyth County School busses and riders, and lastly addressing the BLIND UNMARKED side of the intersection at Nuckols Road and Habersham Trace.
