  • Disqualify Donald Trump in New Jersey
The Constitution’s 14th Amendment provides for the disqualification from office of any person who has “engaged in insurrection or rebellion against” the United States. That includes Donald Trump. As a result, he does not meet the qualifications to become president again. Election officials in every state must respect the Constitution and reject Trump from their ballots. And Congress can help clarify that by passing legislation to bar Trump from office under the Fourteenth amendment.

  • Stop Monsanto's New GMO Corn
I don’t want to see more genetically engineered (GMO) crops. Approving Monsanto’s new GMO corn would mean even more toxic pesticides like Roundup and dicamba in our environment, putting our farmers and the public’s health at risk. At the very least, the USDA should complete a full environmental impact statement on Monsanto's dicamba-tolerant corn, and reject the crop if it isn't proven to be safe for the environment or human health.

  • We want NORMAL - NOT "new normal"!
“We want to strengthen our relationships between our parents, and our families, and our schools” – Marganna Stanley, HCS End of Week Message Special Summer Edition, June 5, 2020 PARENTS want a voice in what happens with return to sports and school. WE are the experts on our children and OUR CONCERNS need to be heard. NO ONE has a greater investment in our children’s welfare than US and yet, we are being left out of the discussion while decisions are being made, that will impact – and HARM - OUR children! It is illogical to think we can eliminate all risks to our children. A certain level of risk is unavoidable, so the task becomes determining what level of risk is acceptable and whether the cost of avoiding a particular risk, is too high. In this case, the “solutions” being presented, are worse than the problem. The cost is too high. So high, in fact, that numerous families that have never before even considered sending their kids to another school, or home-schooling their kids – are now feeling forced to consider those options. In addition, while we have not been informed as to what our school district actually has to abide by, we have observed that the information provided by the KDE is entitled, "Reopening Guidance" and says things like "KDE has prepared a framework to guide the reopening conversation." Repeatedly throughout the document, the word "guidance" along with words like "recommends" and "encourages" are used. Therefore, we implore our school administration and school board to listen to what PARENTS believe is best for our children. We want our kids to go back to school and sports/activities, NORMALLY. NTI days is NOT an option most of us want. We want: • Sports to resume as of June 15th, as approved by the Governor, KHSAA, the CDC, AND our local health department • A regular, in-person, 5 day a week schedule for everyone *with an option for any parent that has concerns, to allow their child to attend class virtually (this should be feasible since it’s part of the administration’s current proposal for 50% of students to do on alternate days) • NO MASKS *with an option for students to be allowed to wear a mask, if their parent chooses • No social distancing • Not eating lunch in their classrooms • Not restricting their schedules or making them stay in one classroom with the same kids all day • NOT taking away recess, PE, assemblies, or ANYTHING else. We want NORMAL – NOT “new normal”. And here’s why:

  • Wayne Williams Deserves a New Trial
FBI records indicate someone other than Wayne B. Williams killed five of the children and also reveal that the Bureau was prepared to arrest a white male in April 1981 for 12-16 of the child murders. The majority of the victims' parents believe that Williams did not kill the children. They want the cases reviewed. We agree.

  • Ban New Fossil Fuel Projects
The climate crisis is here, and we need bold action from our leaders now before it gets worse. To ensure a liveable planet for now and generations to come, we must fully transition away from burning fossil fuels to investing in clean energy. The Keep It in the Ground Act is a critical start by permanently banning all new fossil fuel production projects on all federal public lands and in federal waters. Transitioning away from fossil fuels is one of the most tangible and critical actions we can take to stop climate change. Congress must quit bowing to the fossil fuel industry and lobbyists who rake in record profits while the rest of us suffer from the impacts of extreme weather that harm our health, economy, and futures.

  • No New Coal Mines in Washington State!
After more than 20 years of dormancy, the Pacific Coast Coal Company is trying to resume pit-coal mining at the John Henry No. 1 coal mine in Black Diamond, Washington – just 30 miles away from Seattle. The John Henry coal mine would cause an estimated 250,000 tons of carbon pollution each year, the equivalent of 51,000 cars. The project will cause harmful environmental impacts to local water and air quality – risking public health, wildlife, and reversing decades of progress towards transitioning Washington away from dirty fossil fuels. Washington Department of Ecology, please protect our public waters and local communities from dirty and dangerous coal by denying a permit to the Pacific Coast Coal Company that would violate State Water Quality Standards and the Clean Water Act in the face of climate change.
