  • Stop unidentified perpetrators of gun violence.
Require every piece of ammunition manufactured or imported into this country to have an identifying serial number. Each time that ammo is sold, the name of the buyer is registered to that number. If that ammo is involved in a crime, the last registered owner is held responsible. Gun owners can buy as much ammo as they wish; no restrictions. If a merchant "forgets" to register a buyer to a serial number, the merchant is the perpetrator. "Stolen Ammo" is no alibi.

  • My yoga studio is not a gym!
Stop the city from requiring that yoga studios obtain the same costly PCE permit that giant franchised fitness centers are required to have. Yoga studios are not massage parlors nor are they fitnes studios!

  • No Growth Economic/Social Model
Any society and/or economy based on growth is doomed to failure. The planet is not growing, so the human population and development cannot endlessly grow. A completely different economic and population paradigm, NOT based on growth, is essential to avoid the otherwise inevitable collapses.

  • Retired Workers Stimulus and Tax Relief Bill
The signers noted below urge Congress to pass a bill, rescinding any tax on existing Social Security benefits payable by any retiree who returns to work. This tax relief would provide a great stimulus to all retirees considering returning to the workforce while adding social security and medicare taxes, currently not being generated. If a Retiree receives $1,200 mo in SSI and could earn another $20,000 without the SSI being taxed, the new income of $20,000 would increase the SSI trust fund by $1,530.00 (7.65 X $20,000) a year. Currently, if the Retired Worker makes more than $13,000, they will pay $1.00 for every three dollars of SSI benefits received. Vested retirees deserve an opportunity to increase their income without any additional tax.

  • Stop beach Pier 55
A call to action has arisen in our city due to another misuse of hard-working New Yorkers’ tax dollars. Earlier this year, it was announced that Manhattan would be starting construction on a beach that will occupy Pier 55. The beach costs add up to a whopping $77 million: $70 million of which came from “Restricted City Funds” and another $7 million sourced from Governor Cuomo’s Administration. This is a gross misuse of tax dollars, especially in light of the impacts of a global pandemic that we’re all still facing. According to statistics from de Blasio’s administration: Deaths in the homeless population upped 52% in the past year, and 1 out of 7 children in New York do not have enough to eat throughout the day. That begs the question: “Does Manhattan need its first non-swimmable beach?” We, at FIERCE!, and the undersigned oppose the plan by Hudson River Park Trust and the City of New York to open a beach, and want the funds reallocated to support the black trans and queer communities in this city.

  • Fix the Electoral College: Support the National Popular Vote bill!
A mere 12 closely divided “battleground” states received all of the 253 general-election campaign events in the 2012 campaign. Colorado (which is smaller than Minnesota) received 23 events, while Minnesota received only one (a visit from Republican vice- presidential candidate Paul Ryan). Wisconsin (which is the same size as Minnesota) received 18 events. But under a national popular vote, every voter in every state would matter in every presidential election. A vote in Minnesota (from a Republican, Democrat, or independent) would be just as valuable as a vote in a closely divided state such as Iowa, Colorado, Nevada, Ohio, or Florida. Tell Minnesota state legislators to join states like New York in supporting the National Popular Vote bill (HF 799 / SF 585) now!
