  • President Obama & Congress: Why was grandmother Mamana Bibi killed with a drone?
    I am deeply concerned about unlawful US drone strikes, such as the one that killed Mamana Bibi -- a 68-year-old grandmother in Pakistan who was blown up by two Hellfire missiles while picking vegetables on her family's fields as her grandchildren watched in October 2012. I demand accountability. President Obama should acknowledge Mamana Bibi's death and disclose the facts and legal basis for each of its drone strikes, and Congress should pursue a full, impartial investigation.

  • Save Workshops for Developmentally Disabled
    NYS recently announced that effective July 1st, no new people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities will receive funding for employment in sheltered workshops also known as skill development centers. Beyond July 2013, NY is required by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to create a workshop plan by October 1st. Ultimately, this plan could end this employment option in the entire state and risk the loss of 8,000 jobs that are regulated by Section 14(c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
