An additional 5 years to Life Sentence should be added to any individual assaulting Law Enforcement personnel. This is regardless of the initial charge and regardless of whether they are found guilty of the initial charge. Example - an individual is written a ticket for speeding. In the process, he/she gets out of their car and assaults the Officer. The ticket is not upheld in court. This individual could still receive 5 years in jail or prison for the assault. The opening of the Staten Island Green Charter School has been held up for 5 years. In the 2014 Cycle, the school was selected in Round 1, and then not moved on in Round 2 in July 2015 with the identical information. Our board of Directors is stellar, and we have a 501c3 , and are presently partnering with the Brooklyn Nets to form a Staten Island Jr. Nets program to increase fitness and reduce childhood obesity. We need to be approved now! We have over 500 students waiting to sign up for our school. Our borough needs another elementary charter school . The focus of our school is on the environment, and we partner with Blue Heron Park for our hands-on learning projects. Please do not deny our students a chance for success! I am in Federal court suing the parties responsible for depriving me of my natural right to parent my child and while I already have proof of some of the lies, fraud and failure of due process, I am being denied possession of my full case file, by court order, which contains all the proof I need as a Pro se litigant to prove that my child was stolen from me. I have been erased from my only child’s life, for no reason except I believed my son’s allegations of sexual abuse, I have been denied my natural role as his mother. He is now ten years old. It’s been three years since I have seen him. I receive three updates in 3 years from my ex-husband, who clearly enjoys that this is all the contact the Court allows me. It had been ordered that I was to get these reports monthly, but I had to go back to Court to even get this. A page of words to tell me about how my precious and only child is doing. No academic reports, no legitimate health medical reports are provided to me. Nonetheless, I continue to pay my controlling, (documented) abusive, sociopathic ex-husband the required child support, as well as extras like summer camp...all the while without seeing my son and truly knowing about his life. The Court has repeatedly denied my right to due process by blithely dismissing three separate Therapists reports that I was not mentally ill. My rights of due process are violated by the Court not telling me exactly why my therapists’ reports are not sufficient to allow reunification to begin. And the way things are progressing, it’s clear that the Court of Bergen County obviously expects me to just accept that I will never see him again. On July 13, 2015, I believe as retaliation to my pending lawsuit, the Court gagged me from discussing the DFYS/DCP&P connection to this case. I complied by scrubbing my website www.painfulsilence.com as well my social media of any and all comments related to their reports, workers, etc. However, the Court intends to hold me responsible for third parties who refuse to remove what they have posted. Already, one media outlet, Long Island Backstory, has adamantly refused to be censored. The order states I can be incarcerated for what they do. How can this be happening in America? I have gone to the FBI, the ACLU, the Ethics Commission, and all say the same: they have “no authority to intervene in Family Court”. My final appeal has been presented to the Supreme Court of New Jersey, with no hope we will be helped there either. What is happening is against every principle that this country stands for. Please join me in speaking truth to power. I may be gagged, but I will not stop until the truth is known about how this protective mother was treated by Bergen County.

Prohibiting the practice of giving away live animals, fish, hermit crabs lizards etc as prizes would save many of them from cruelty. Winning a animal or fish is done on impulse and rarely do the recipients have the resources for them when they arrive home to care for them. I have seen fish in bags discarded in trash receptacles at the fair and many others die from the heat and being brought on rides. Many towns and cities in other states have banned the practice. New York is a progressive state and should do the same. There are better, more suitable prizes available that don't have the inherent cruelty of giving a live animal as a prize.

According to a recent report by the Associated Press, the US currently has 11 million Americans receiving Social Security Disability. The trustees who oversee Social Security and Medicare claim the fund will run dry at the end of 2016 if Congress fails to replenish Social Security’s disability trust fund. There is an easy fix available: Congress could shift tax revenue from Social Security's much larger retirement fund, as it has done in the past. President Obama supports the move but Republicans say they want changes in the program which includes reductions in disability benefits and restrictions on eligibility. They also want a plan to encourage disabled workers to re-enter the work force which, in many cases, would be impossible due to physical and mental handicaps. Recipients could see a 19% decrease in their monthly checks if the fund is not replenished as well as an increase in their Medicare premiums. Most SSD recipients living with disabilities are not capable of working. They survive on the checks they receive and now their benefits are going to be cut? This cannot happen. I know the situation all too well from personal experience. My sister, who was born deaf and with congenital heart disease, is currently receiving a monthly SSD check which barely covers basic necessities. She is not capable of working and were she to need hospitalization, the co-pays alone would be unmanageable. She, along with millions of others born with disabilities, bare a burden most American's will never fully appreciate. However, if we insist on boasting that America is “the greatest country in the world”, it is imperative that we provide a consistent standard of care and dignity for the least fortunate among us. That begins with an acceptable standard of living for everyone… good food, shelter, and quality medical care. It also means holding Congress accountable for the mismanagement, fraud, and misguided priorities that have been the real reason these social programs are being depleted. We seem to find the money to bail out big banks, subsidize oil companies, big pharma and agricultural giants, and spend billions on defense contracts to create weapons we will never use. All while assuring billionaire “job creators” get their tax breaks which we are promised will create growth that will magically “trickle down”… but never does. American citizens need to demand that we take care of people who, through no fault of their own, are unable to take care of themselves. If we allow the Paul Ryan’s, Scott Walkers and other congressional Randians to chip away at critical Social Security Disability funding, we forfeit the right to call ourselves “the greatest country in the world’.
