  • Forgive Hopeless Student Loan Debt
Over 20 Years of legislation and litigation has made discharge of student loans through bankruptcy an extremely difficult and mysterious process that very few people are able to do. The aspirations, hopes, and dreams of people wno simply tried to better their lives by pursuing further education and training should not be ruined by Student Loans. Banks should not be allowed to garner astronomical profits guaranteed by the US Government while they punish and humiliate debtors who are unable to repay their loans in a matter that satisifies the bloodlust of these sharks. Help put an end to the corrupt student loan collection system and sign this petition.

  • Alternative transportation
Establish more Amtrak/rail service throughout the country, reducing the need for cars. Use federal funds to build new lines and mandate that the pricing for Amtrak be affordable. We can transfer the use of the funds currently subsidizing the oil industry to do this. Also, establish pedestrian/bicycle lanes so that bicycling becomes a safe and realistic option.

  • Cut Government Spending at the Source: Salaries of Elected Officials
Elected State and Federal Government office is a renewable, contracted, salaried and temporary position. As such, wages should be representative of the contractor- in this case the national average salary of the electorate tied to the minimum wage of $7.25. With consideration given to the "on call" 24/7 nature of the responsibilites, one year (8766 hours) salary should not exceed $63,553.50, and all benefits terminate when the contract concludes.

  • Corporations Are NOT People
In U.S. Supreme Court decisions from Santa Clara County vs. the Southern Pacific Railroad Company in 1886 to Citizens United vs. the Federal Elections Commission in 2009 corporations have been accorded the rights of natural persons even though they only exist through government charters. There is nothing in our Constitution which defines corporations as persons under the law. The Supreme Court has given them the protections of the Bill of Rights through its power to interpret the Constitution (judicial review) and following the precedents it has already established. This has allowed corporate treasuries to donate as much money as their CEO's choose to influence elections, to present falsehoods as news and to prevent regulators from inspecting their records or places of business among other things. This is antithetical to the best interest of your constituents who are natural persons--society as a whole. The only way to reverse this is to amend the Constitution in plain English to say that corporations are not persons under the law. Then the Supreme Court will not be able to reinterpret the will of the people on this matter. We the undersigned are asking you to propose and support a resolution for such an amendment to its ultimate fruition.
