Right now women are being silenced in order to cover up an eight year long investigation that to date has not been resolved. Con Edison, one of the nation's largest utility companies, is abusing its power and using its money to cover up the hostile work environment they have created for many of us. We have been subjected to gender discrimination, sexual harassment and assault, and are being retaliated against because we are trying to halt this abuse. This discriminatory abuse is being experienced across all levels of employment, in various departments from management to non-management positions. Now we the women of Con Edison are requesting your assistance in finding a resolution to this long standing problem of the dehumanizing treatment of women at the hands of Consolidated Edison!

The Albuquerque Coalition Against Police Brutality is concerned with the patterns and practices of abuse, excessive force, unjust killings and overall civil rights violations by the Albuquerque Police Department. Please sign the petition below if you support our efforts to continue to notify the U.S. Department of Justice of these atrocities and to convince them to do a complete investigation of the Albuquerque Police Department in order to protect the citizens of Albuquerque.

The nation is moving in this direction already. First smoking was banned on airplanes; then in the workspace; later, extended to restaurants and even bars. New York City banned smoking in stadia and taxis and extended the law to include all public parks and beaches last year. Most jurisdictions have banned smoking in cars when there are children present. However, entering a public building or even walking down the street is still like running the gauntlet and hazardous to one's health. While smokers should be able to retain some rights, their rights should terminate at non-smokers' noses. If you can smell it, you're being exposed to carcinogens, which is simply not only hazardous, but unfair. Smoking causes 440,000 deaths in America annually and adds to the burden on the health care system and tax payers along with lost productivity in the workplace. I urge reasonable people to support the notion of further restricting smoking in all public spaces where others may be exposed.
