  • Demand Congress Create Comprehensive Background Checks and Require Periodic Renewals of all Gun P...
Let's petition key parties to come together and voluntarily create comprehensive screening process for thorough analysis of those wanting new gun permits as well as acquiring newly requirement for renewal of gun permits on a periodic basis. This can also be used as a watch list used to monitor households that have high probability of being involved in gun violence. This can be accomplish using widely used analytical and data gathering techniques with the involvement and cooperation between key government, corporate and non-profit organizations. The social catalyst beyond public support can be an opt-in registration for parents and families that will let them know and have their records available to law enforcement that simply rates the likelihood of an individual or family member being involved in gun violence in the future. Another option is to make it a requirement for any household or member of household wanting a new gun permit or having permit renewed.

  • Support Senator Elizabeth Warren's student loan refinancing plan
Support Senator Elizabeth Warren's "Bank on Students Emergency Loan Refinancing Act" to unshackle about 40 million Americans whose student loan debt exceeds the total amount of credit card debt for the first time in our nation's history. Many borrowers with outstanding student loans have interest rates of nearly 7 percent or higher for undergraduate loans, while students taking out new undergraduate loans pay a rate of 3.86 percent under the Bipartisan Student Loan Certainty Act passed by Congress last summer. The Bank on Students Emergency Loan Refinancing Act would allow students and graduates to pay back outstanding loans at the same rates that Senate Republicans overwhelmingly embraced just last summer as appropriate for new borrowers. Let's rebuild the American Dream instead of burying our best and brightest young minds in debt slavery.

  • Restore Excellence in California Schools!
As a CA resident and voter, and a PTA member, I am very concerned about the dire state of our school system (we're 49th in per pupil funding and bottom performing). Because our state needs an educated workforce, and every child deserves a great education, please restore long term stable funding to our schools and spend the new funds effectively as follows: (1) amend our tax laws so commercial property owners once again pay their fair share of property taxes, and enact an oil severance tax. (2) invest in pre-school (every $1 invested saves $7), and in our teachers by providing pre-service to new teachers and in-service to existing teachers (mentoring, professional development, excellent working conditions). Thank you for all of your work on behalf of our children. Together, we can restore excellence to our schools.

  • Tell the DC Public Service Commission: Reject the Backroom Bowser-Exelon Deal
I urge you to stand by your original decision, and reject the merger settlement deal struck between Exelon and Mayor Bowser. The new deal does nothing to address the fundamental "conflict of interest" and core concerns that led the Commission to rightfully reject this merger in August. As the owner of a large fleet of aging and financially risky nuclear reactors, Exelon has a fundamental interest in raising our electricity rates and suppressing the growth of local, affordable, distributed clean energy. The settlement deal will allow Exelon to hit DC residents with several years' worth of accumulated rate increases starting in March 2019. Exelon's so-called "concessions" on renewable energy could actually inhibit our development of distributed clean energy resources by preventing companies other than Exelon from developing them. Ultimately, this merger would still bring huge new risks to ratepayers and offer virtually no benefits.

  • Top Five Free Energy Technologies Unfolding Now
    • We need to get smarter... After reading this report, Top Five Free Energy Technologies Unfolding Now | Wake Up World wakeup-world.com, look at the countries who are already starting to monopolize on this technology by building facilities to produce and market this stuff... Saudi Arabia is one that stood out... I don't know about you but I don’t want to have to depend on any of these countries again to supply us with this kind of energy source that we can produce here in our own country… “Wake Up America And Smell The Coffee” This is stufff we need to keep an eye on... I think Vermonter's should build a facility in our state and produce one or all of these new energy sources… And I think it’s time we think about voting for a presidential candidate who is smart enough, forward enough and brave enough to lead us into this new technology... Benefiting "We The People" not "Corporations"…

  • Oppose Budget Cuts to Florida Atlantic University and the State University System of Florida
The proposed budget cuts to Florida Atlantic University and the State University System are short-sighted and will have long-term detrimental effects to both higher education and the economy. Florida Atlantic University has an estimated economic impact of $4 billion annually in its six-county service region. Economists estimate that Florida's universities and related businesses are responsible directly and indirectly for about 771,000 jobs in the state, or 7.9 percent of the state's work force. We strongly oppose these budget cuts to Florida Atlantic University and the State University System in general. • Protect Our Essential Childcare Industry
Vermont's childcare workforce will be allowed to re-open as of June 1. However, we do not currently have enough supports in place to do this successfully. In spite of our best efforts, we cannot simply re-open the industry in this new landscape without some long-term financial investment. We are an essential service made up of fragmented, tiny businesses without the public funding that we need to survive a pandemic. Vermont’s fragile childcare system is in jeopardy along with the rest of the nation. Investing now so that our programs remain stable will allow for a much quicker economic recovery versus allowing programs to fail and then waiting years for new programs to develop. Parents can neither wait years to return to work due to lack of childcare nor shoulder the burden of massive tuition increases. We are asking you to support the childcare industry’s need for investment so that we can provide an essential service to the economy.

  • Protect NH's Right to Vote
We urge you to vote against any bill that places additional barriers to a citizen's right to vote in New Hampshire. You will be taking up legislation in an upcoming hearing that will require voters to present a limited number of ways to prove identity. This provision will adversely affect our seniors, minorities, disabled, and low income citizens, who are the most likely to be without the required photo ID. There is no evidence that voter fraud is rampant in New Hampshire or that the communities that will be most affected commit voter fraud. Protect our right to vote by not supporting SB 289. You will also be taking up SB 318, which makes changes to our voter registration forms. These changes are unnecessary and can only be seen as an attempt to intimidate certain citizens who wish to register to vote. Please protect our most fundamental right—the right to vote—by voting against SB 289 and SB 318.

  • Free Our Los Angeles Times
The City and County of Los Angeles deserve a newspaper of record that, in the words of Austin Beutner, is its “civic conscience which holds accountable those with power, helps celebrate what is good in our community, and provides news and information to help us better understand and engage with the world around us.” Our Los Angeles Times must continue to reengage the Southern California community by investing in high quality content, award winning journalism, and new technologies. It can no longer live with the “cost cutting to prosperity” strategy of its owner, the highly leveraged Chicago based Tribune Publishing Company. To achieve the goal of a vibrant, engaged, and civic oriented LA Times, we call on Tribune Publishing Company and its major shareholders to spinoff our Los Angeles Times into a separate, locally controlled company and to reinstate Austin Beutner as Publisher. Free Our Los Angeles Times.

  • NFL: You've got an Epstein Problem
The co-owner of the New York Giants, Steve Tisch, is under fire for his connection to pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. The latest documents released by the Justice Department show that Tisch used Epstein to scout younger women to take on dates. He even asked if one woman was a "working girl."  He was even emailing Epstein while at an NFL owners meeting.  On February 2, the NFL released a statement saying, “The league is aware of the reports and Steve’s response. Our office will look into the matter to understand the facts.” Since then, they've been radio silent about one of its owners using a convicted pedophile to scout dates with young women.  What more facts do you need to understand that Steve Tisch and anyone associated with Jeffrey Epstein aren't fit to own an NFL team?  Take action, and drop Steve Tisch as co-owner of the New York Giants.
