We, the undersigned, urge the leaders of Delafield, Wisconsin, to make any ordinance exceptions necessary to permit smiley face signage to be added to "The Smiley Barn" (2420 Milwaukee Street, Delafield, WI, 53018) in the same size and shape as previously affixed to the barn. We love The Smiley Barn and want it back!

Legislation to allow terminally ill patients the option for death with dignity has been introduced in Maryland and should be passed. The law would allow physicians to prescribe medication for a patient to end their life if they choose. The law contains safeguards, including sign-off by a second doctor, and is modeled on Oregon law, used by Brittany Maynard who suffered from an incurable brain cancer.

In October, the Fort Lauderdale City Commission passed a city ordinance effectively criminalizing the feeding of the homeless in public, which is punishable by up to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine. Police have already charged a 90-year-old humanitarian Arnold Abbott and two Christian Ministers for feeding the homeless in a city park.

I have visited Maverick Farms in Valle Crucis and seen the amazing work that they are doing. The idea that taxpayer money will be used to cause environmental and economic ruin to maverick farms seems the opposite of what Watauga County stands for as a leader in fostering sustainable agriculture and protecting family farms. I urge the DOT reconsider its plan to virtually destroy any chance that Maverick Farms can continue its work on the Justus Road land and its outreach in the community. Please consult with the Wilsons and other community members to come up with a plan for Justus Road that doesn't destroy this vital community asset.

Stop siding with oil industry profits over safe coasts and a livable climate by advancing a dangerous drilling plan that puts at risk tourism and fishing industries in Virginia worth over $2.5 billion and 100,000 jobs that depend on a healthy ocean and a cleaner Chesapeake Bay. Instead of the oil-slick beaches that inevitably come with offshore drilling, let's tap into the vast rewards of offshore wind power, which could create 10,000 jobs in Virginia while lessening the threat of rising seas and chronic flooding already plaguing coastal residents—especially in Norfolk and Hampton Roads—as a result of climate change from global warming.

For too long Midwest Generation's coal plant in Waukegan, Illinois has been polluting our community's air, water and land. Our community should not have to pay the health costs and live with your pollution while your profits and electricity go out of state. We are asking that Edison Mission Energy and Midwest Generation establish a clear plan moving forward for the coal plant that includes a phase-out date. We also ask that you ensure a just transition of the work force and engage stakeholders in the conversation about future reuses of the site.
