    The Senate just failed to pass commonsense gun control legislation in response to the hate-fueled attack on LGBT individuals in Orlando last week and countless other mass shootings across the country. Since Congress won't act, going local might be the best chance to curb gun violence in Wisconsin.   • Illinois FIX OUR ROADS
    Stop wasting money on studies, pet projects, things at this time WE DO NOT NEED. What good is a proposed sports complex (that just had the Normal Illinois town council vote in favor of giving a company $47,000 in tax payers $ for a "study") if the roads continue to damage our vehicle's taking more $$$ out of our already tapped wallets. Most will not be able to afford to attend, can we say US Cellular Coliseum (renamed Grossinger Arena). These terrible roads are costing the tax payers of Illinois MILLIONS of dollars for new tires, rims, alignment.

    Eight years ago, ExxonMobil promised shareholders that it would stop supporting climate denial through its political contributions. It hasn't. A new report released last week shows that ExxonMobil has continued to fund both the ultra-conservative, climate-denying lobbying group ALEC, as well as climate-denying legislators in Congress. Senator Roy Blunt is one of those. He's received more than $39,000 in contributions from ExxonMobil since 2007. Sen. Blunt shouldn't be helping ExxonMobil break promises. It's time for him to give that money back.

    The COVID-19 situation in Wylie ISD has been worsening by the day. Given the severity of COVID-19 and the rise of numerous variants, we believe more should be done by the district in order to ensure the safety of students and staff, as well as parents and family members at home. We request that Wylie ISD: Enforce a mask mandate for all students and staff in Wylie ISD facilities. (including school transportation) Reinstate contact tracing. Encourage all students to sanitize their hands upon entering each new classroom. Educate students on respiratory etiquette.

  • Gov. Nixon: Thank you for vetoing 72-hour waiting period!
    Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon vetoed a new bill to make women wait a full three days before being allowed to have an abortion, calling it "insulting to women" and showing a "callous disregard" for victims of rape and incest. This is an amazing victory for choice in the South, and a strong message of support for women who would have been forced to prolong their trauma as assault survivors by an uncaring government. But there's still a chance the Missouri legislature could try to override Nixon's veto — which is why we need to show a huge groundswell of support for his decision now!

Tom Delay became notorious for using earmarks to control members of his party and shut Democrats out of the House. Now instead of finding a new way to work with fellow senators, the difficulty of a Congress without corruption is causing people like Reid to call for earmarks' return — and it's up to us to shut them down.     The History Channel’s new series ‘The Bible’ uses an actor to portray Satan that bears a remarkable resemblance to President Barack Obama. In a scene that casts actor Mohamen Mehdi Ouazani as Satan attempting to thwart Jesus Christ’s holy path to God, the unspoken message that Obama is Satan is clear given Mr. Ouzani’s uncanny resemblance to President Obama. It is important to note that this scene is in a documentary film and not a comedy skit where connotations are not to be taken seriously. It was produced in incredibly poor taste without regard to the deep divisions that face our country at the moment.
