  • Petition: Stop Apple giving kids access to chat-with-strangers apps
A new report has just exposed that Apple lets kids download risky adult apps -- including for casual sex and chatting with strangers -- from their app store. This gives predators a direct line to kids! Even when a kid’s Apple ID shows they are underage, they can still easily access apps that connect them with random strangers and encourage sending nude pictures. The time for abdication of responsibility and unaccountable tech practices that hurt our children is over. Apple must take immediate measures to stop children from accessing adult-only apps.

  • Elected Officials Must use and pay for the same healthcare plan they develop for the public
Our elected officials are trying to pass new healthcare laws that limit healthcare, make it more expensive and violate our privacy. I would like us to ask our elected officials to not only be forced to use the same healthcare plan they are developing, but also to have to release their genetic results to the public if they ask the public to do the same with their employers. Elected officials should also have to pay for the healthcare they are developing. No more free healthcare for elected officials! https://www.statnews.com/2017/03/10/workplace-wellness-genetic-testing/

  • Don't hand over our neighborhood school to an unaccountable, union-busting charter company
Against our will, the Philadelphia school district is planning to turn over a neighborhood public school—Luis Muñoz Marín Elementary School—to ASPIRA of Pennsylvania, an outside charter operator. ASPIRA of PA is in the news because of an ugly anti-union campaign at one of its Philly charter schools and for shady financial dealings at all of them. We call on City Councilwoman Maria Quiñones-Sánchez to stop promoting a union-busting charter school operator tainted by suspicious finances, and to step up for her constituents and our children—and for our neighborhood public schools.

  • #FireZuck. Tell Facebook to fire Mark Zuckerberg NOW
It's time for Facebook to fire Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Time and time again, Mark Zuckerberg has chosen to let lies, hate and disinformation run rampant on the platform he founded. He's consistently put Facebook's profits ahead of truth, safety, health and democracy. One person—especially someone who has such poor judgement—should not have sole power to decide what social media content will reach billions of people. Facebook needs new leadership that prioritizes the safety and wellbeing of its users and the global public. Truth matters.

  • Tell the FCC: Rein in the predatory prison telecom industry NOW!
In 2022, Congress passed the Martha Wright Reed Act to expand the regulatory authority of the FCC over the correctional telecom industry and finally provide families impacted by incarceration relief from egregious call rates.  But now, the FCC has delayed implementation of new regulations until April 2027—meaning people will have to wait YEARS and pay millions of dollars because of this unilateral decision that puts special interests over people, the law, and the will of Congress.  Enough! Add your name to the petition to demand the FCC stop the delay and implement the regulations NOW!

  • Buckeye Broadband Monopoly
Stop charging loyal, long standing customers $100/mo for internet and offer new customers the same service for $40/mo! There's also several parts of the area, particularly in Sylvania, Ohio, where resident's pretty much have zero options outside of Buckeye's service. This is why they control our wallets. There's no competition! That's considered a monopoly. Their internet service is also of mediocre (at best) quality and reliability. It constantly loses connectivity and doesn't even have good coverage throughout the entirety of family's homes. We want affordable rates, all the time!

  • The Climate Crisis is Here: Tell President Joe Biden to Declare a Climate Emergency!
The science is clear: we need to make drastic changes to save as many people as possible from climate catastrophe. President Biden needs to declare a national climate emergency and use the full authority of our government to transition to a clean energy economy, as fast as possible. We can’t wait any longer. We need to decrease our dependence on fossil fuels—and as a result, decrease our support for greedy, corporate execs—to create new infrastructure that promotes a green, renewable energy future, with good jobs for people across the nation.

  • Tell the Washington Post to End AI Price Gouging!
Many Washington Post subscribers were recently alerted that their subscription rates will be going up, with the update buried in the fine print of an email: “This price was set by an algorithm using your personal data.” Access to the news is vital, but billionaire Jeff Bezos’ grip on one of the nation’s leading media companies is putting profit ahead of the public good.  The more we normalize this kind of price gouging, the more corporations will use AI to extract money from us. Sign the petition now calling on The Washington Post to end predatory surveillance pricing!
