I’d like to thank the whole South Dakota House Commerce and Energy Committee for standing strong with working families and voting 13-0 to table HB 1261. I urge you to work with your colleagues on a bi-partisan agenda to create good, middle-class jobs for South Dakota. South Dakotans strongly rejected HB1261 and reject all political attacks on working families funded by out-of-state groups. We want business and labor, Democrats and Republicans, to work together to solve our state's problems and create jobs.

Dear public servant, please stop San Diego Gas & Electric's attempt to raise its already industry-high rates, as well as their campaign to inhibit the use of solar energy by imposing dramatic increases in fees to the users of solar electricity. These unjust fee hikes, if approved, would set an extremely damaging, nationwide precedent for other utility companies to follow that would have a huge, adverse effect on this country's transition to solar energy.

Dear President Obama and Secretary of the Interior Salazar, The director of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, James Hansen, has argued that to avoid irreversible catastrophic climate devastation, we must stop all CO2 emissions from the burning of coal by 2030. In light of the gravity of our situation, the Department of the Interior’s plan to lease large tracts of public land in Wyoming to new coal mining projects is unconscionable. Please halt this morally reprehensible plan and rapidly move the United States beyond coal to renewable energy sources, which multiple studies have shown could power our entire economy.
