  • Save In Home Support Services in California
Please call your state legislators to maintain the In Home Support Services (IHSS) program hours at the current levels, so those who need assistance with bathing, dressing, cooking, rides to doctor's appointments, grocery shopping, personal care, and/or even cleaning. The individuals who are eligible for this type of assistance are evaluated by a doctor who attests to their necessity and a social worker who ensures the physically disabled AND need these services. At the maximum rate of awarded services hours of 230 hours per month and payments of $9.50 per hour (approx. $26,000 annually) equals a savings of $ 58,000 per person per year vs. the average cost of $7,000 per month ($84,000 annually) is nearly30% cheaper than traditional care. This program is subject to a mandatory 20% reduction of payments which will result in actual higher costs due to the projected costs of individuals who will be forced into nursing facilities. Please help the disabled and poor. It is exploitation of the. Weakest and least able to fight for themselves. Please tell your state legislators to retain the current funding and to reinstate the Adult Daycare Programs which is also necessary for the careta caretakers of our elderly and or disabled.
