Almost none of the many proposals being talked about by the President, Congress, or the NRA would have prevented or reduced our recent mass shootings or the 8,000 plus gun homicides every year. This petition requests that the government regulate semi-automatic firearms in the same manner and for the same reasons that machine guns were regulated. The only gun related petitions on the White House web site are of the “keep your hands off my guns” variety. If you feel that the numbers of guns that can fire high volumes of bullets in seconds and are easily available to everyone are a problem: 1. The average German, Japanese, Russian, British or French soldier in World War II did not carry a semi-automatic rifle. Korea was fought on all sides without detachable magazine rifles. Most of the guns used in the last 68 massacres and last year’s 8,000+ homicides were semi-automatic guns. A machine gun fires, reloads, and fires again as long as the trigger is held down. In response to seven deaths in the 1929 Saint Valentine's Day Massacre, Congress regulated machine guns. As a result, machine gun homicides are almost unheard of today. A semi-automatic gun fires, reloads, and fires again as fast as the trigger can be pulled. Semi-automatic guns are the weapons that make it possible to have mass shootings, such as the elementary school in CT, the movie theater in CO, and drive-by shootings into homes and crowds from moving automobiles. In response to 12 deaths in a CO movie theater, Congress did nothing. In response to 26 deaths in a CT elementary school, Congress did nothing. In response to 8,000+ firearm homicides last year, Congress did nothing. As a result, we can expect 8,000+ more gun homicides this year, plus a massacre at a college, a high school, an elementary school, a preschool or a school bus.

Give a fair and un-partial trial looking at all of the facts

We are asking each school in Portage County and Northeast Ohio to form a start time committee. The purpose of the committee would be to explore the clinical data and discuss the feasibility and benefits of delaying start times for middle and high school to after 8:30 am.

Public Service Company, PNM, a privately held electric monopoly, has made hundreds of millions of dollars off their aging polluting San Juan coal plant and now wants $350 more million to close the plant “early.” Even though PNM will literally produce no electricity from the plant, it claims it is still entitled to the profit it hoped to get from ratepayers. Senate Bill 47, PNM's "Energy Redevelopment Bonding Act” will force ratepayers to pay the $350 million to Wall St. bondholders (who have paid PNM up front) from a monthly increase on everyone's electric bill. It’s time to hold PNM accountable, to protect ratepayers from PNM’s greed, and deny PNM a bailout resulting from their utility management malpractice!

This petition is regarding the upcoming Grand Jury hearing in the case of Kenneth Chamberlain, Sr., an unarmed elderly black citizen who was shot to death by the White Plains Police Department. This case not only brings into question the policies and practices of this department; but it is an open question whether it was inevitable, particularly in light of the audio tapes and video tapes witnessed by Mr. Chamberlain’s family members and attorneys where racial slurs and expletives were used before ultimately shooting him twice in the chest and killing him. It is imperative that those tapes be made available to the Grand Jury, and that all other evidence be presented as well. Members of Mr. Chamberlain’s family and community--and a much wider circle of people who need to know there is fairness in the criminal justice system--seek reassurance that, no matter what the verdict, the process has been open, honest, and just. We, the undersigned, implore Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore to no longer allow police misconduct, brutality, or criminality to happen in this community and ask that these officers be indicted and charged with murder and civil rights violations.

Hi. My name is Steve and I’m a 68 year old Virginian. While in college, I had a double major in Political Science and History. I have a well rounded education in how our government was originally intended to and is actually run. I participated in a fair number of well justified marches and rally’s (all extremely peaceful unlike today)..So I have a good grasp on what’s right and what’s wrong in our country today. Regrettably, it often seems the wrong outweighs the right. Time to do some cleanup. Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett admitted their true positions on abortion, they never would have gained a seat on our Nations highest court (for life no less) It’s my understanding that lying to a member of a congressional committee while under oath is a federal crime punishable by a prison sentence. I want both the Federal House and Senate Judicial Committees to undertake Impeachment procedures against the three Judges who have perjured themselves while seeking their confirmations to the Supreme Court of the United States of America. Demand that the CDC issue a position paper on the use of zinc lozenges in COVID-19 and test their use in treatment (in double-blinded studies) in vulnerable populations.
