  • McDevitt supports Bi-State Compact
I support Congress authorizing a Bi-State Compact between Oregon and Washington because it will establish equal seats at the table for resolving our transportation needs in the region (including Washington, Multnomah and Clackamas counties in Oregon and Klickitat, Skamania, Clark, and Cowlitz counties in Washington State). Clark County alone is expected to grow up to 300,000 people over the next 25 years.

If medical marijuana were available her naseau could be releaved, she could eat more, and get better faster. Why deprive someone from a plant created by god that grows in the dirt?

  • Restore Library Hours in Sonoma County
I urge the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors to act to end an unprecedented 25%, two-year-long cutback in countywide library hours. During budget deliberations in mid-June, I want our Board of Supervisors to make libraries a top priority, and to direct $1.3 million in funding to restore these essential hours for the fiscal year starting July 1, 2013.

  • Free rides for sick and elderly in Perry County
The county commissioners have denied the $6000 they usually allocate to Sirs (Ride Solutions) for the wheel chair van that gives rides for the elderly or those (wheelchair bound), needing rides to various appointments. As of 1/1/25, for example, they now have to charge $54 for a round trip ride from my friend’s father’s home on 11th street in TC to the clinic and back.

  • Objections to Height and Sea Wall Special Permits, Beauport LLC.
I oppose the special permit request from Beauport LLC. as follows: The height is excessive and does not fit in with the character of the neighborhood or the skyline and views of and within the City of Gloucester and should be limited to the guidelines in the MI district. The proposed sea wall is not environmentally the best choice in this precious beach location, especially since it's been confirmed that while sea walls do protect the structure behind it, it will cause Pavilion Beach to erode and eventually be lost. Pavilion Beach is a favorite beach for locals as well as tourists who come to visit. The proposed wall will also be detrimental to the ecosystem here which as been documented as a nursery for scallops before they grow large enough to leave the eelgrass. The wall as currently planned will protect the structure but not our precious environment. Please look at the pictures and comments at http://holdtheport.wordpress.com/2013/03/10/are-we-being-mislead/ http://www.portcommunityalliance.org for more information.

  • Permanent Congressional Term Limits
Congress is to settled in DC. They've become too focused on themselves and there needs to be changes that keep their focus fresh and on the Nation as a whole. Fight for permanent term limits!

  • BLACK COMMUNITY DEMANDS COMMUNITY BENEFITS AGREEMENT ORDINANCE IN PITTSBURGH, PA
With multi millions of dollars planned for development in Pittsburgh, it is vital that disparity rates be addressed. One critical way to address it is by the creation of a Community Benefits Ordinance for the City of Pittsburgh. This Ordinance or Law will reinforce and set in place contractual binding agreements that require community participation at all tables when it comes to development dollars, financial packages and tax incentives/abatements created for revitalization of the urban communities, and that community participation is required at all levels and planning stages. The goal of the discussion will be the establishment of community benefits that must include: 1. Low Income Housing 2. Workforce Development and Training 3. Incubating of Small Businesses 4. First Source Hiring 5. MDWBE Professional Contracts and Monitoring to achieve the 12% participation goal and investigate the circumstances when the goal is not met. 6. Participation in A Growth Fund To be directed towards future youth and economic initiatives within that area of development. Also, guidelines must state that no one individual, community organization or CDC can make the decision for the broader community residents.

  • The Senate must not vote for the Republican Healthcare bill
The Senate Republicans led by Majority Leader Mitch McConnell are trying to force through the bill passed by the Republicans in the House of Representatives with very few changes; in a closed session that prevented any Democratic participation. This bill will take away Health Care for over 24 million and severely cut back on Medicaid; while making the cost of PreConditions unaffordable to low and middle-class Americans. This bill must not be allowed to pass.
