On Friday, July 31st, 2020, USCIS updated their rulings to include a $50 application fee that asylum seekers must pay in order to apply for protections. The USA is now just one of four countries to charge applicants seeking asylum, many of which who are fleeing violence and/or poverty. This petition then demands: - USCIS IMMEDIATELY rolls-back their new policy to charge $50 for applicants of asylum. - Local, state, and congressional elected leaders/public servants call for the immediate cancellation of said policy.

Urge Congress to declare that Trump’s new Coronavirus adviser, Dr. Scott Atlas, is a dangerous quack who must be fired immediately. As reported in The New York Times: - Scott Atlas has questioned the science for wearing masks. - He has pushed against testing people who don't show COVID-19 symptoms, even though we know that people without symptoms can be the biggest spreaders of this pandemic. - He has called for the kind of conservative approach to the pandemic that Sweden has already tried -- to disastrous effect. Scott Atlas is not an epidemiologist nor an infectious disease expert. But he does appear a lot on Fox News. And that’s why Donald Trump likes him. This kind of bogus analysis is killing thousands of people across the United States. Urge Congress to declare that Scott Atlas is a dangerous quack who should not be advising the U.S. response to the pandemic.

Los Angeles just raised its minimum wage to $15. New York is still stuck at $8.75. This summer, we have a HUGE chance to raise wages for New York fast food workers. I urge the wage board to go to $15 so fast food workers can pay their rent and feed their families. If they can do it in L.A., we can do it in New York.

We are concerned that the state of New Mexico doesn't want to continue the Rail Runner Express service due to the associated price tag. We do not want our state to take away this valuable service, but rather to improve and expand it. The New Mexico Department of Transportation should look into expanding service to other parts of our state or raising ticket prices to be similar to those of other commuter railroads like Metrolink, GO Transit, and Sounder. For those of us who do not have the luxury of owning a personal vehicle or the funds to travel by air transportation, the New Mexico Rail Runner is how we get from point A to B. Taking that away would mean we could lose our jobs or have to drop out of school due to lack of transportation. So please, listen to your citizens who use this train service and keep the New Mexico Rail Runner Express running.

In fact, once the academy is operational, NHHM is going to be “integrated” into it and will be run as a subsidiary. What may concern art lovers and collectors in the city is what happens to the collections inside the museum. The museum represents more than a hundred years of the craft history of India. “To dismantle a national crafts museum, and put in its place an academy, seems a travesty. There has been no concept note circulated so no one really knows what is going to happen. Why destroy something that has worked well! Find a different home for Hastakala Academy - build an expansion and integrate the Academy as a subsidiary to the National Craft Museum.
