To: Senator Rick Murphy, Judiciary Committee Chair

Sen Murphy give a hearing to SB 1048

There is no conclusive evidence that executions serve as a deterrent. There is conclusive evidence that executions are carried out in an arbitrary and capricious manner, that they are economically and racially biased, that we have executed innocent people. Our death penalty experiment has failed... we must stop killing people.

Why is this important?

Arizonans have spent too much time and money arbitrarily killing some inmates while allowing their co-defendants to walk free. It time to end this ineffective and unjust practice and bring an end to the death penalty in Arizona. Senate Bill 1048 will do that but it has to clear the Judiciary Committee.
