To: Ken Cuccinelli, Virginia Attorney General

Senator Ralph Northam Demands that Ken Cuccinelli Resigns as Virginia's Attorney General

As a pediatric neurologist and State Senator, I know what it takes to balance big responsibilities and demands on my time. That's why, thanks to the help of the wonderful partners in my medical practice, I'm able to put practicing medicine on hold while I fight for our values in Richmond. If I didn't make that responsible choice then neither my patients nor my consitituents would get the attention they deserve.

But Ken Cuccinelli thinks it is alright to keep collecting a full-time salary from the taxpayers of Virginia while he's barely a part-time Attorney General. Not only is he running for Governor, today Cuccinelli kicks off his book tour. Former attorneys general who have run for governor have resigned, citing they would not have time to do both jobs.

Because Virginia deserves a full-time Attorney General, I call on Ken Cuccinelli to immediately resign. It is unfair for Cuccinelli to ask hard working Virginians to pay him a full-time salary while he runs a campaign for Governor and cashes in on a book deal.

Why is this important?

Virginia deserves a full time Attorney General. Not only is Ken Cuccinelli running for Governor, he just kicked off a book tour. Former attorneys general who have run for governor have commonly resigned, citing they would not have time to do both jobs. Those include Jim Gilmore, Jerry Kilgore, and Bob McDonnell. Please join me in demanding that Ken Cuccinelli step down as Virginia Attorney General - Now!
