To: Rob Portman, Senator
Senator Rob Portman must disavow Donald Trump and his racist attacks
Rob Portman is running for reelection in Ohio while shamelessly defending Donald Trump's attacks on Latinos, immigrants, women, and veterans. If Rob Portman wants to represent all Ohioans adequately in the U.S. Senate, then he must disavow Donald Trump’s racism and revoke his endorsement immediately.
Why is this important?
Donald Trump launched his presidential campaign by calling Mexican immigrants "murderers" and "rapist," and has since deployed similar attacks on target women, Muslims, and most recently veterans and their families.
Last week, Donald Trump dismissed the sacrifices of Khizr and Ghazala Khan, the parents of fallen U.S. Army Capt. Humayun Khan, and proceeded to insult them on national television.
Another target of Donald Trump’s insults earlier this year was Gonzalo P. Curiel, a U.S. Citizen born in Indiana who serves as a federal judge in California, who Trump accused of being unfit to preside over the Trump University litigation due to Curiel’s “Mexican heritage.”
Instead of denouncing Trump's abuse and disrespect towards the family of a fallen soldier, a federal judge, and other minority groups across America, Rob Portman continues to support and defend Donald Trump's racist policies and offensive attacks on our fellow citizens.
Even worse, Rob Portman still supports the Trump campaign even after Donal Trump called on “second amendment people” to do something about Hillary Clinton - a disturbing suggestion that should not be made by any presidential candidate.
If Rob Portman wants to represent all Ohioans adequately in the U.S. Senate, then he must disavow Donald Trump’s racism and revoke his endorsement immediately.
It is unacceptable for Rob Portman to continue supporting Donald Trump while seeking to represent the state of Ohio, and its diverse population, in the U.S. Senate.
We demand that Rob Portman puts people before politics and revokes his support for Donald Trump!
