Senator Vogel: Senate Bill 653 out of Committee
Senator Vogel, on behalf of food consumers of Pennsylvania, please move House Bill 653 out of committee as soon as possible. Thank you for your leadership on this issue.
Why is this important?
I'm a beekeeper so I am deeply concerned about neonicotinoid pesticides and systemic genetically modified organism acting as honey bee killers are not being properly regulated. I hope state leaders in Pennsylvania's State House are smart enough to eliminate our local PA supermarkets as the end-user delivery systems for pesticides in our food by passing GMO labeling laws in PA. We are being forced to consume toxins without giving our consent. Remember what happened with regard to the hazards of smoking and being exposed to second-hand smoke without consent? Pesticide traces in the urine of children eating conventionally grown produce? Unacceptable. Pesticide traces found in fetal umbilical fluid? Unacceptable. We need GMO labeling laws now. This is the first step in recognizing that the problem of pesticides is a major health threat to human beings, too. I am reaching out to Senator Shirley Kitchen and Senator Peliggi to support Senate Bill 653 in the upcoming legislative session. Please take action. GMO labeling laws in Pennsylvania now.
