Senators Chambliss and Isakson: Return the "Blue Slip" for Linda Walker and Natasha Silas

President Obama nominated Linda T. Walker and Natasha Perdrew Silas for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia on January 26, 2011.

To this date, they have yet to have a hearing to debate their nomination -- all the while, there have been vacancies in the District Court for the Northern District for an extended period of time.

The President has nominated two highly qualified women for federal judicial posts and I am asking you to return a "blue slip" and allow all members of the senate the opportunity to fulfill their constitutional obligation to cast an up-or-down vote on these nominees. The Constitution requires it.

Our judicial system should be put above partisan politics and at no time, should partisan politics hinder the courts from doing their important work.

Please return a "blue slip" on these nominees and give the senate an opportunity for an up-or-down vote.

Why is this important?

The President has nominated two highly qualified women for federal judicial posts on January 26, 2011 and Georgia's U.S. Senators (Chambliss and Isakson) will not return a "blue slip" and allow all members of the senate the opportunity to fulfill their constitutional obligation to cast an up-or-down vote on these nominees. All the while, there have been vacancies in the District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.
