Sensible Budget Priorities

End the wasteful, failed war on terror which only increases terror blowback [http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/manchester-attack-terrorism-isis-salman-abedi-end-middle-east-wars-extremism-grows-a7752181.html] while making only war profiteers and their Congressional tools wealthy; close our 700+ overseas military bases costing $100 billion a year; end 'special ops' in more than 130 countries [http://www.alternet.org/world/2016-us-special-operations-forces-deployed-138-nations-70-worlds-countries]; stop the $1 trillion nuclear weapons modernization which will make nuclear war more likely; audit the Pentagon; cut the Security/Surveillance State Budget by 60% from over $1 trillion a year to less than $400 billion; cut the Pentagon budget [54% of the total discretionary budget]; eliminate most of the 17 Intelligence Agencies [combined budget: more than $66 billion]; recover the taxes uncollected by being hidden in offshore tax havens and accounts [http://www.truth-out.org/opinion/item/40903-we-are-not-broke-trashing-the-austerity-lies].

Use these massive savings for Medicare for All; infrastructure repair and modernization; transition to non-fossil, non-nuclear, renewable and sustainable energy; a massive livable-wage jobs program in those infrastructure and renewable energy programs; affordable housing; elimination of poverty and homelessness; treatment, not incarceration, for drug dependency; free college; and elimination of student loan debt.

Why is this important?

Billions of our dollars are being wasted on futile, endless wars, while serious problems here at home go neglected. The climate catastrophe and nuclear weapons threaten the existence of all of us.
