We live in Eastmoreland and we support anything you can do to separate the national historic district designation - which is and should be kept simply an honorary title - from local historic restrictions. If people want to protect the "historic" character of Eastmoreland, or any other neighborhood, that should be done through a local, public, transparent process."
Why is this important?
Eastmoreland is currently trapped in a National Historic District process. InJanuary the Comprehensive Plan revised Goal 5 and now allows a local state option for historic designation. We support anything you can do to separate the national historic district designation.
