President Murray, we ask you to follow the example set by fellow colleges: work with WPEA to mitigate the 3% salary reduction imposed on Cascadia’s classified staff.

Why is this important?

In July, Washington State’s community college system imposed a year-long 3% salary reduction on all classified employees. Since then, WPEA – one of the unions representing classified state employees - has secured a commitment from several colleges to “mitigate” the salary reduction by offering overtime opportunities. To date, Cascadia has NOT agreed to mitigate, ignoring the financial hardship being imposed on the lowest paid employees in our community college system.
