Speed enforcement in Oxford, Indiana. Our Children's Lives Matter
This petition is a request directed towards the Oxford, Indiana town board to order the town police to enforce speed limits on Justus St from Luin St to the town limits. In June 2019 it was brought to the attention of town board that there is a serious speeding issue on Justus St. The town board agreed to put up 20mph speed limit signs and the town, in fact, did put up those speed limit signs in place. However, since that complaint and since the signs were installed there has been little to no patrolling done by the town police. Action without enforcement is pointless. And we the undersigned residents of Oxford Demand that these issues be dealt with by the town immediately.
This area is along the park and has high foot and bicycle traffic mostly by children going to and from the park. Our Children's lives matter to us as they should to everyone. There are no sidewalks for them to walk on so they have to walk in the street with cars sometimes going up to 50mph and barely slowing down as they pass children. This is unacceptable and will not be tolerated by the citizens of this town anymore and we demand change. The only way to enact change is complete and total enforcement of the posted speed limit by police officers.

Why is this important?
A lot of us have children that live and play in Oxford. Just because you don't live in the area this petition is targeting doesn't mean you are not affected. I see this problem daily and have been fighting for change in this area. since we have attended town board meetings they have been very receptive and I think this may help. Thank you.
