State Surplus?
It was reported that our state will have a surplus this year of millions of dollars, enough to replenish the rainy day fund and still partially pay for Governor Fallin's income tax cut proposal. Yet she still insists on cutting education spending in a state that is 49th overall in per student spending and still falls below the national average in student literacy. Tell Governor Fallin to stop cutting education so the business environment can "improve." Our business environment is fine. It survived and flourished during the recent recession, and now that the recession is declining, we should focus our tax dollars on the intellectual recession that looms in front of us
Why is this important?
.Oklahoma ranks 49th nationally in per student spending and below average in student literacy. With a surplus in the state budget going to the rainy day fund and to pay for her income tax cuts, where is education ranking on her list of priorities? We're calling on Governor Fallin to stop cutting education spending so she can boost her friends in the oil and natural gas industries that are not having any problems accumulating wealth.
