STATES PAY VOTER SUPPRESSION FINES
ANY STATE THAT BLOCKS AN ELIGIBLE CITIZEN'S RIGHT TO VOTE SHOULD PAY THAT CITIZEN MONETARY DAMAGES.
Why is this important?
States which have established strict voter I.D. laws to prevent voting fraud has failed to prove there are high rates of voter fraud; however, the voter I.D. laws have proven to have high rates of blocking ELIGIBLE voters from voting. Basically, the States have committed more voting fraud than the citizens have. Every citizen has ways to prove who they are without having a state photo I.D. They have retirement income records, utility bills, nursing home administrators, social security administration documents, records of birth, school I.D., work I.D., passports, income tax documents, property tax documents, or it can be a notarized statement by clergymen or law enforcement officers. Every citizen who would have been eligible to vote if he/she was not prohibited by the State's photo I.D. law have had his/her constitutional rights violated and therefore the State needs to pay punitive damages to that citizen. If an ELIGIBLE citizen is purged off the voter registration roll or is not placed on the voter registration roll after lawfully filing his/her voter registration, the State must pay punitive damages to that citizen. If the State prohibits enough eligible voters from voting to the point it affects the outcome of an election, that State's election results must be voided and rerun.
Prevention of voting fraud is commendable but not if it blocks the constitutional right of even one law-abiding citizen. The State has clearly broken the law and that one citizen is the crime victim. Restitution to each citizen should be $1,000 - $5,000. This action will assure that the States will be as adamant in protecting its citizens rights as it is in preventing fraud.
