Stealing Pensions ought to be Illegal
Since the Bankruptcy Laws allow a company to disregard the benefits earned by employees of a Corporation and steal pensions of people who are 70 to 90 years old and will be unable to gain employment a law should be introduced to reverse the present bankruptcy laws that allows a company like American Airlines, with 4 billion dollars in its bank account, to declare bankruptcy and drop its retirees pension funds and health benefits. This should not be allowed to happen to people who have worked for 30 years for a company. If an employee had been guilty of stealing anything at American Airlines they would have been prosecuted for theft, therefore any company who steals an employees pension should be prosecuted for theft also. Up to this time I have heard of no Senator or Congressman say one word about this legalized theft they have made possible through the law they passed. Why is there no out cry about their legalizing theft by Big Business today?
Why is this important?
American Airlines declared bankruptcy recently and is now in the process of dropping retirees pensions, and benefits. This is legal under Chapter 11 bankruptcy laws, which were changed under President Bush's 8 years in Office. Those of us who have worked faithfully for 30 years will now face the loss of our income or have it reduced by the Government Pension Insurance fund. Since this is another rule that allows Big Business to disregard human rights and steal Pensions it should be out-lawed by Congress and signed into law by the President.
