Stop Attacks on LGBTQ+ People and Drag: Protect Free Expression Nationwide!

In states and cities across America,  the LGBTQ+ community and drag performers are facing threats, bans, harassments and censorship. These attacks are designed to silence LGBTQ+ voices and erase trans and gender-nonconforming people from public life.

When governments can ban one form of art, no creative expression is safe.

We call on all elected officials to:

  • Reject restrictions on LGBTQ+ and drag events and ensure equal access to public venues
  • Reject legislation that singles out drag performances for restriction
  • Stop targeting LGBTQ+ people through discriminatory laws
  • Hold accountable those who threaten drag performers and venues
  • Focus on real issues instead of manufactured culture wars

Why is this important?

These attacks aim to erase us entirely. Yet politicians keep pushing these discriminatory laws while our communities face escalating attacks.

The violence and censorship are real:
  • Bomb threats shutting down drag shows
  • Harassment campaigns targeting organizers and drag performers
  • Threats of gun violence, armed protests and more
  • Cities are using vague language and ordinance to push LGBTQ+ events out of public spaces. 
  • States are banning LGBTQ+ performance and restricting trans rights.
