Stop Coal Transport by Rail or Barge
Stop all coal transport in the State of WA. Require an E.I.S. that includes the effect of coal dust on humans and bees. Require a study on the effect 1.5 mile long trains and coal dust would have on business and housing.
Why is this important?
1.5 mile long trains will pass through the Columbia River Gorge where toxic coal dust will drop into the river and into the habitat that supports endangered Salmon. Our fruits and vegetables are grown along this route. Honey bees pollinating plants could carry coal dust back to hives and further endanger our honey bees.The coal to China is burned for electricity and will return via the Pacific air stream as acid rain falling into oceans and streams.
