STOP ELDER ABUSE BY FUNDING THE ELDER JUSTICE ACT 2010

We need your help to get the ELDER JUSTICE ACT 2010 funded and in operation.

Only 2% of federal abuse prevention dollars goes to elder abuse education, prevention, and prosecution (91% goes to fight child abuse and 7% goes to fight domestic violence).

The Federal Government only spends $11.9 million a year on fighting elder abuse. Only a small percentage of senior fraud is ever reported and a recent MetLife study shows seniors losing $2.9 billion a year because of senior financial exploitation.

The ELDER JUSTICE ACT 2010 was passed with a four-year budget of $747 million to focus, respond, and prevent elder abuse. The ELDER JUSTICE ACT 2010 has not been funded and is not in operation to help solve elder abuse.

With the aging of America and the 78 million Baby Boomers retiring this terrible problem of elder abuse will only get worse.

Why is this important?

Elder abuse is the CRIME OF THE 21ST CENTURY. A senior is abused every five seconds in the United States. We are elder abuse and senior financial exploitation victims. My wife is facing the rejection of her transplated liver due to her exposure to toxic mold. Our former landlord stop the delivery of her anti-rejection medication and refused to fix a leaky moldy sink. This was done by our former landlord in retaliation to our filing a complaint about the false advertising, imposter nurse, and criminal activity at the senior living facility. We have been fighting this slumlord for three years for ourselves and for our other 46 abused and financially exploited seniors. We are fighting for the rights of elders in memory of my 94-year old aunt, Catherine Reinertson, who died abused, financially exploited, and a broken women as a result of the criminal activites of our former senior living facility.

We are presenting HELP STOP SENIOR FINANCIAL EXPLOITATION on 10/22/12 from 1 PM to 3 PM at the PORA ADULT LEARNING located at 13815 Camino del Sol, Sun City West 85375. We are reviewing the scope of elder abuse and 15 tips to avoid being a victim of this crime. There is no charge for the elder abuse prevention presentation and the state officials, federal officials, and public are welcome. Seating is limited so RSVP as soon a possible at (623) 584-4288 extension 415.
