Stop Fracking in Pennsylvania
Radioactivity is one of the most important environmental impacts of fracking for natural gas and it is being ignored. Each day radioactive wastewater is dumped into our waterways which eventually finds its way into our drinking water. In addition, our water treatment plants are sending radioactive sludge from the Fracking process across state lines. The open box cars which are being used to transport the sludge are contaminating ever community as they journey to dump sites in New York or Ohio.
Why is this important?
Fracking releases radioactive solids and gases into the environment. The natural gas produced is contaminated with radioactive elements which are released when burned and can cause lung cancer.
