Stop FY 2013 Agriculture Appropriations Bill

On Monday, July 23, Congress will vote to give biotech companies free rein to plant, harvest and sell genetically modified organic crops before their safety has been determined. Worse, if any crops are found harmful by a court of law, the USDA is forced to ALLOW continued planting of the proven dangerous crops. The provision goes even further and bans the court from even SUGGESTING the USDA take action against any agricultural policies that may be harmful to the environment, consumers or farmers.

Why is this important?

Big Agri-business, in an attempt to subvert existing crop cultivation laws, is backing a bill that would prevent the USDA from enforcing regulations halting the planting of illegal, potentially hazardous genetically engineered crops before their safety has even been determined.
