Stop Gun Violence

My heart is broken for the children and families of Sandy Hook Elementary and of Aurora and Virginia Tech and Columbine and the list goes on and on, too long to bear. But grieving is not enough. We have to ask ourselves: Are we doing all we can to prevent gun violence? It is time to act to prevent future tragedy. We respectfully call upon President Barack Obama and the U.S. House and Senate to pass legislation now: The U.S. urgently needs appropriate gun control measures.

Why is this important?

I am heartbroken by the violent loss of life in Connecticut. And like so many other people, I want to help the families and communities that are hurting directly and hurting most. But it's not enough to help out after the fact. We don't just need response; we need prevention.
