Stop Manipulating Consumers Through Noise

Ask corporate America to turn the volume down and stop manipulating consumers through noise to eat faster, drink more and spend too much. Stop putting our eardrums and nervous systems at risk for damage.

Why is this important?

On July 28, 2012 The New York Times published an investigative article on noise, revealing that high decibel levels in restaurants and clothing stores, to name a few, make patrons consume more and consume faster. Noise has been linked to increased hypertension and heart disease. As a teacher of voice and ear training, I am seeing the day to day damage inflicted by corporate greed on youg eardrums and vocal folds. We are calling on corporate America to stop putting employees and patrons at risk in the name of greed. We are calling on them to reduce the decibel level intheir establishments. But repeated exposure to loud noise often damages hearing and has been linked to higher levels of stress, hypertension and heart disease.
