Stop Medicaid work requirements from taking health care away from poor people

Mary Beth Musucemi, associate director of the Kaiser Family Foundation’s Program on Medicaid and the Uninsured, said this “will penalize individuals by having them lose health coverage.”

Why is this important?

"Among the adult Medicaid enrollees who were not working, most report major impediments to their ability to work including illness or disability or care-giving responsibilities. While proponents of work requirements say such provisions aim to promote work for those who are not working, these policies could have negative implications on many who are working or exempt from the requirements." Reasons for signing

  • I am physically disabled and although I have submitted medical records and proof or receiving disability checks, anthem will not grant an exemption. Did they really think this was going to be properly managed? I guess I'll keep calling and calling and.....
  • Many of those on medicaid can not work and are sick and disabled. I am signing this petition because its unfair to force someone to work, when they clearly can not and need medications its hardship enough to try and get medications especially if you have pre-existing condition. This bill is wrong and unfair.
  • Work requirements for Medicaid recipients are counter-productive. People who don't get healthcare become less able to work. We need to take care of medical needs if we want people to be productive members of society.
