Stop Outsourcing HCC Jobs
We, the undersigned, being residents and taxpayers in Portage County Wisconsin, do hereby petition the Portage County Board to vote no on the proposal to contract out the housekeeping jobs at the Portage County Health Care Center.
We believe it is in the best interests of the residents of the Portage County Health Care Center, their families, and the residents of Portage County in general, to keep these jobs in-house and to work with current staff and the Facilities Director to streamline operations, restructure the department, and implement a new schedule and wage scale.
We believe it is in the best interests of the residents of the Portage County Health Care Center, their families, and the residents of Portage County in general, to keep these jobs in-house and to work with current staff and the Facilities Director to streamline operations, restructure the department, and implement a new schedule and wage scale.
Why is this important?
The Portage County Board will be voting on July 17 on whether or not to outsource the housekeeping jobs at the Health Care Center. This will cost 7 jobs that pay living wages and affordable benefits, it may negatively affect the residents at the HCC, the employees, and it will take money out of the local economy. Replacing jobs that pay living wages with affordable benefits with low-paying jobs with few benefits harms the local economy. We are asking the County Board to stop the contracting out of these positions.
