Legislative committees in Utah have always been balanced, with equal representation from both major parties. But newly introduced legislation could weight committee members to Republican lawmakers, giving the GOP a majority.
House Bill 220, sponsored by Republican Representative LaVar Christensen, would add two more members from the majority party onto the Legislative Management Committee and an Audit Subcommittee.
