Sun Valley Group, one of the largest producers of commercial flowers in the United States, is proposing a Timber Harvest Plan (THP) to expand its’ operations in Willow Creek. Sun Valley has purchased forty acres just north of Sunset Blvd and directly between their present farm on Patterson Lane and the Trinity River. The THP comprises ten acres including trees directly on the bluff above the river.
We are concerned about the impacts of pesticides on the river and our community as well as the impacts of pesticide and deforestation on a very sensitive riparian zone along the wild and scenic Trinity River.
We are asking the Sun Valley Group to be responsible stewards of the land and stop the proposed THP, and the expansion of pesticide dependent agriculture along the Wild & Scenic Trinity River!
Please support our efforts!
Why is this important?
Sun Valley Floral Group wants to cut forest adjacent to the Wild and Scenic Trinity River in an effort to expand Chemical intensive flower production. Families with children, fish and wildlife will all be impacted by these actions. This timber harvest and expansion should be stopped!
