Stop the Attacks on the Nuns on the Bus
Catholic parishes shouldn't be used to organize ugly protests that spread fear and lies about nuns who speak out for the poor and vulnerable. Please formally admonish Father John Michael Campbell for his parish's attacks on Nuns on the Bus.
Why is this important?
Last week, the "Nuns on the Bus" went to Ohio, visiting local social service agencies and speaking out about how draconian federal budget cuts could endanger the poorest and most vulnerable people in our society.
But when the sisters rolled into the town of Marietta, they were met by a crowd of angry right-wing protesters who called them "fake nuns" and wielded signs labeling their tour the "highway to hell" and "bums on the bus."
Many of these protesters were recruited by a local Catholic parish, where the priest invited right-wing activists to distribute an ugly screed falsely accusing the sisters of "espousing radical ideology."
Can you sign our petition calling on the local bishop to admonish this priest and make sure that no more church resources are used to spread fear and lies about Catholic sisters?
