The death penalty is an outdated punitive tool which is only being considered in light of recent deaths in New Mexico and not the facts/research behind it.
Why is this important?
The death penalty has been proven to be more expensive than life sentences due to the appeals process. Research also shows that it is not an effective crime deterrent in states it is used. It is a punishment that cannot be taken back and does not belong in New Mexico.
