Do not require Maj. Gen. Errol R. Schwartz to resign at 12:01pm on Inauguration Day. He has spent months planning for the days-long event, and should be allowed to complete this critical mission.
Why is this important?
At 12:01pm, the moment Donald Trump is sworn in as President of the United States, the Commanding General of the D.C. National Guard--Maj. General Errol R. Schwartz, will be relieved of his command.
There is no excuse for this action. Presidential appointees are not all required to resign at the moment of transition, especially not ones in the midst of critical duties. This is spiteful, unnecessary, uninformed, and wrong.
