To: David Mahoney, Transylvania County Sheriff
Stop the hunt for baby Rain!
Ask the Transylvania County Sheriff to end their effort to send a sick baby goat back to slaughter!
Why is this important?
Law enforcement in North Carolina is devoting substantial resources in the search for Rain, a baby goat rescued from a meat farm. Rain was suffering from pneumonia at a meat farm where animals had previously been seen collapsed on the ground in their own filth. Rain received emergency medical care and is today happy and healthy. But the Sheriff in Transylvania County is now threatening animal caretakers with felonies -- including a mother with two children -- unless Rain is sent back for slaughter.
I have played with goats, and they have the same feelings as a dog or cat. I don’t want to see Rain, who has already suffered so much, sent back to an abusive place, and I’m respectfully asking the Sheriff to call off the hunt for Rain and drop all charges against activists who helped to rescue him.
