We, the undersigned, strongly oppose S. 582. S. 582, which seeks to approve the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, would have detrimental impacts to American Indian tribes' treaty lands, waterways, and sacred sites. Further, the XL pipeline would cross major aquifers, leading to potentially serious water contamination that would impact tens of millions.
We ask that you stand against desecration of American Indian sacred lands and waterways, and against the potential of water contamination, and oppose S. 582.
Why is this important?
Construction of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline would have detrimental impacts on American Indian treaty lands, waterways, and sacred sites. Additionally, the XL pipeline would present serious potential environmental risks to the the general well-being of wildlife, the Earth, and human health. Especially disconcerting is the threat of spills and their possible impact on the major aquifers that they may cross.
