Stop the "Murphy" Bill! HR 2646- "Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act" of 2015.

On June 4th, 2015, Representative Tim Murphy of Pennsylvania re-introduced the Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act, also known as H.R. 2646. The Consumer Council System of Maine and our peers around the country oppose this bill because we want to promote mental health recovery, not kill it, which this bill would do.

Why is this important?

The bill continues to promote institutional and coercive approaches to inpatient and outpatient treatment instead of investment in effective community-based mental health services.
