Stop the Partisan Bickering and Get To Work Assuring the Markets and the Voters
To: Mr. Speaker Boehner, House Majority Leader Cantor, House Minority Leader Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Reid, Senate Minority Leader McConnell, President Barack Obama
I know you all now realize the collective damage you have done with the partisan bickering and inability to act collectively in the best interests of the citizens of this country. The market has spoken volumes leading up to this week but still none of you could find a way to get together and show the leadership that this country needs and we taxpayers deserve.
Yes, at the 11th hour you came together to raise the debt ceiling which is and always has been an issue distinct and apart from budgets and taxes and entitlements. Still in all, the message from S&P is quite clear, you guys can't be trusted to get beyond the petty issues that you all seem to use to differentiate your parties and work collaboratively on a simple non event like raising the debt ceiling. The result; another big drop in the DOW; 600+ points.
You want to fight about balancing the budget, reducing expenses and raising taxes? Fine, there is a time and a place for that but not at the expense of damaging the reputation, full faith and credit and sovereign risk rating of the nation!
The impact to me and my fellow citizens is that now the market seems to be in free fall and my retirement is at risk. I had never expected to depend on my social security but I do thank God it is there. After all, I and my employer put it there along with my reserves for health care known as medicare. I never expected to completely depend upon that either but now you and your colleagues have put the wheels in motion such that my retirement savings, which I worked long and hard for, are in jeopardy and now ironically, those programs represent a bigger safety net to me and my family.
I know I am not alone. So my message to all of you is.... get your act together or we collectively will vote all of you out of office. I am an independent and as such, people like me; mainstream, centrist and older are the majority voting in the nation. We need your leadership...NOW! Get back to work and begin to assure the markets and the voters that you can operate in our best interests!

Why is this important?
Yesterday I watched my assets drain away as the Dow tumbled another 600+ points. Sure there are are the factors in the Global economy but the one Gold Standard has always been the resilience and stability of the United States of America.
The bickering and partisanship around the debt ceiling has led to a downgrade of the US credit worthiness and a stock market freefall. This nonsense has driven down the value of everyone's assets and personal retirements savings. Its time to tell Washington to get their act together and work for the good of the country, and stop just appealing to their "base" (er) instincts or collectively, we will kick them out of office!
