In what is thought to be a deliberate strategy to deter illegal immigration, U.S. border officials are separating children as young as one year old from their mothers. The Trump administration previously listed this as a strategy they were thinking about implementing and now it is happening. Over 700 in total and 100 children UNDER THE AGE OF 4 have been taken for indeterminate times and kept away from their parents for months with no contact. THIS IS BEING DONE IN YOUR NAME AS A CITIZEN.
Why is this important?
Immigration policy needs to reflect American values and, more importantly, Human Rights. Taking children away from their parents is inhumane. There is no reason to do this except cruelty and surely to GOD we are a better country than this. When there is a reckoning for US policies like this, every one of us should be able to say "I didn't approve of it, and I did something about it; I told my representatives I wanted this to stop immediately."
