To: The New York State House, The New York State Senate, and Governor Andrew Cuomo
Stop the Spectra NYC Pipeline!
The Spectra pipeline, a high-pressure natural gas delivery system that aims to bring hundreds of millions of barrels of hydrofracked gas directly into New York City, not only threatens to taint a historically clean water supply with chemicals and radon gas, but endangers millions of Manhattan residents due to its proximity to an earthquake fault. We need our state legislature and our governor to Vote "No" to the Spectra NYC Pipeline.
Why is this important?
Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, has already been proven to create dangerously high chemical and gas levels in ground and reservoir waters near fracking sites. NYC has historically had clean and safe drinking water; now it is threatened with both water supply, environmental and earthquake risks thanks to this project. We must tell our State Legislature and our Governor to say "no" to Spectra NYC.
