Stop the use of higher one cards to disperse school refunds
If the best interest of the student is your primary concern, then you will stop the use of higher one card to disperse financial aid refunds. Higher one was made primarily to make one by two Yale graduates. The service is poor, there are no actual banks to go to if we should need assistance, there are very few atms. if a student chooses to use the card there are lots of fees associated with it as well as the account fees. The higher one card makers set it up so that destitute students really have no other option other than signing up for an account with them. Of course, with signup you have access to your money immediately, but if the student doesn't choose to set up and account they have to wait 5-7 days. yes, they give you the option of sending the money to a "third party" bank, but in order to do this you have to PRINT out a form and mail it in. When everything is electronic why is that the only method they offer....think....when Wake Tech handled my Financial aid refunds I received my money promptly the next day usually after it was dispersed...why should we as students have to wait an additional week? Wake Tech may be saving money by using higher one but if they really had the best interest of the students at heart they would stop this immediately...higher-one charges fees for money that students are getting through scholarships, loans, and grants...that makes absolutely no sense...and then higher one officials have the audacity to say if a person uses the card properly these fees can be avoided...HOW? if the goal is to make money...they charge fees if you simply use your card as credit instead of debit...and so on and so forth. I may have forgotten a few important points but it all comes down to money...wake tech might be saving money by highering out someone to help with financial aid issues but it has a negative impact on students overall.
Why is this important?
I am a Wake Technical Community College student. I depend, not unlike many, on my financial assistance from the school. This is not in my best interest or the best interest of any student at this school. It is simply so that the school can save money and the higher-one corp can make money.
